“I would really like to expand and to open a store in town and employ other women to sell the products. Our own house is very small and all my cooking, crocheting and sewing materials take up a lot of space. I would move all my items to that store, to give us space in the house, and make it easier for people to see what I’m selling. I also want to help other women, which I could do if I had my own shop. Crochet is such a good thing for housewives and careers, because you can make the items at home whilst looking after children. For example, I have a neighbour who does not have a husband, and has to look after her blind sister at home. She is very poor and unable to work. If I had a store and was able to increase my production through employing staff, I could train her in crochet and she would have an independent source of income.”
“I believe that women play a very important role in the development of a country, and the more skills a woman has, the more she is able to contribute. I dream of Indonesia becoming a more stable and healthy country, with women and children that receive good education and are able to pursue the type of work that they want”.
